Perspicacity

We believe viruses are better biologists than most biologists. By studying how they work we hope to harness their insights to improve health beyond infectious diseases and virology. It’s the sort of thinking that could go viral.

Transparency

The lab is accountable to each other to foster our mission and to our local and scientific community to maximally improve human health. This means both doing outreach to increase scientific literacy and making our research methods, including raw data, publicly available.

Infrastructure

We believe in improving the scale and balance at which we do science. This means systematically creating pipelines, both experimental and computational, to elucidate novel aspects of virology previously uncovered.

Diversity

Diverse people and viruses together are the key to a comprehensive view of biology. People will bring in different perspectives on science from their individual fields, but more importantly through their identity. This allows our assumptions to be challenged resulting in more rigorous work and science that can benefit a broader group of people.
